Training
I offer specialist training in understanding and working with the dynamics of people who have experienced child sexual abuse, sexual violence and rape, domestic abuse, and complex trauma and related therapeutic challenges. This includes working with impaired attachment, shame, dissociation, the impact on the body and somatic challenges, chronic sleep disturbances, narcissism, obsessions and ruminations. enduring personality changes as a result of trauma, and the role of self-medication. This is done within the context of the Power Threat Meaning Framework, Trauma Informed Practice and the Phased Oriented Approach to Trauma Recovery. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of practitioner self-care to mitigate the risk of vicarious traumatisation, compassion fatigue and burn-out.
